St John’s Primary School, Bradford

Russell Telecom’s solution ticks all the right boxes

Background

St John’s Primary School is a Church of England school in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The school has been graded Outstanding by OfSted.

When it came to upgrading its telecoms system, St John’s chose Russell Telecom; a company with three decades’ experience of meeting the telecommunications needs of the education sector, as its preferred supplier.

Requirements

St John’s required a telecoms solution that was far more efficient than their old system, which was out-dated and had experienced call quality issues. The school also wanted an additional phone point installed in a new office and an assessment of their line rental and call charges to ensure that they were benefitting from the most cost-effective rates. Solutions

Russell Telecom undertook a thorough assessment of the school’s telecommunications system before deciding that the NEC SL1100 solution would suit its requirements perfectly. Ideal for up to 70 extensions, this system is proving very popular within the education sector due to its powerful and intuitive features, comparatively low running costs and competitive price.

The system is ideally suited to the requirements of a busy primary school as calls can be routed more efficiently to whom the caller needs to speak to, and messages can be left on the voicemail system to alert parents of school closures, for example.

The school was supplied with six 24 –key digital handsets, one 60-key DSS console and seven 12- key digital display handsets. In addition, 19 existing analogue phones were connected seamlessly to the new system. The NEC SL1100 solution has the in-built facility to record information for parents that can be changed by nominated member(s) of staff.

Results

Staff at St John’s Primary School are delighted with their new telecoms system.

Lesley Burton, the school’s Business Manager, said:

“Russell Telecom has been exceptional throughout the entire process.
“They listened to our needs and made suggestions, demonstrated the system before we committed to ensure all of the staff were happy with it and did several site surveys to ensure everything would run smoothly. In addition, they provided full training after installation.
Their after care service has also been excellent.”

St John’s was also impressed by the seamless transition from their old outmoded system to the new telecoms solution.

Key additional benefits of the new system include its reliability in terms of improved call quality and the integration of existing music on hold facility and greeting messages.

A crucial additional benefit has been the 30% savings achieved by switching the school’s line rentals and call packages to Russell Telecom. The staff also use the new auto-attendant and voice mail facilities extensively and they find the conversation record feature invaluable. Russell Telecom’s dedicated and highly skilled team of engineers is all CRB checked, and this was a huge positive as it enabled the installation work to start and complete without delay
