Built in Scarborough’s Victorian heyday the Three Star Red Lea Hotel on Scarborough’s South Cliff was originally six elegant town houses.
The Red Lea, Scarborough received the Trip Advisor award – Certificate of Excellence 2013.
A south-facing Victorian terrace, the 3*** Red Lea Hotel has been carefully and tastefully modernised whilst retaining much of its original character.
When it came to upgrading its telecoms system, the hotel chose Russell Telecom, a company with three decades’ experience of meeting the telecommunications needs of UK businesses and organisations, as its preferred supplier.

The hotel required a telecoms solution that would allow guests the use of telephones for internal and external calls. This facility was also required in the newly opened apartments attached to the hotel.
The hotel also required that the billing system should be straightforward for guests. In addition, the hotel required that each room had its own voicemail messaging system. An additional line was also needed to the hotel’s soon to be completed fitness centre, so that customers could ring the staff there directly.
Russell Telecom completed a comprehensive evaluation of the hotel’s telecommunications system before deciding that the NEC SV8100 would be the ideal solution. The SV8100 came with 83 extensions, voice mail and auto attendant.
Auto attendant is ideally suited to the busy hotel environment as it allows calls to be answered quickly with greeting messages that can be changed according to the time of day or week. Greeting messages can also be tailored to provide callers with dialing options – for instance: “Press 1 for reception” or “2 for the fitness centre.”
Auto attendant can be configured so that only out of hours calls and/or calls that have been ringing for a specific length of time are answered by the application.
The hotel’s owners are delighted with their new telecoms solution.

Russell Telecom also analysed the hotel’s telephone usage and costs and have forecast a cost reduction in telephone bills using the new call package.
